christmas print fabric
1 old wooden clothes peg
calico
christmas spicery
1 pipe cleaner
lace in wide (45cm)
fine felt- tipped pens (blue and pink)
brown or black four ply knitting wool
glue
33cm length of in wide (3mm) ribbon

Cut a strip of fabric (5 x 6,5 cm) join the 2 shortest sides, right sides together with a (6mm) seam.
Turn the resulting tube and slip it over the peg,
turn in 1,3mm at the top,
cut 2 wedge shaped pieces of calico measuring in 4cm at the top,
3 in (8cm) high,
join them round the sides and base in (6mm) scam, clip the corners and turn the bag,
fill it with Christmas spice,
pull the bag, fill it with Christmas spice,
pull it over the peg and sewit to the bodice to make the arms, bend the ends of the pipe cleaner towards the centre,
cut 2 in (2,5cm) diameter, circles of calico and run tihy gathering stitches round the edges,
pull up the gathers and slip the mittens onto the folded ends of the pipe cleaner,
sew them into place, cut a strip of fabric (5 x 10cm),
with the right sides together, join the 2 longest sides with a (6mm) seam,
turn the tube right side out and turn in (1,3cm) at each end,
push the pipe cleaner arms through the tube and bend them round, with the tube seam facing in wards,
run tiny gathering stitches round the opening of each sleeve,
pull up the gathers to fit and sew the sleeves to the calico mittens,
sew the arms onto the body,
for the skirt, cut a piece of fabric (25cm) wide and (9,5cm) deep, with the right sides together, join the two sides with the right sides together,
join the 2 sides with a in (1cm) seam,
neaten this by making zig zag stitches through both thicknesses and press to one side,
turn the skirt right side out, turn under (6mm) at the bottom edge and press.
Pin the lace to the them and stitch through both thicknesses,
turn under (6mm) at the bottom edge and press, pin the lace to the hem and stitch both thicknesses,
turn under (6mm) at the top of the skirt, press it and run a gathering,
stitch along the edge, slip the skirt over the body with the seam at back,
pull up the gathers to fit and sew the skirt to the body,
draw a face with felt tipped pens on the peg, cut (12,5cm) of wool and make the hair with the ribbon.
